The tinting system is an advanced method for measuring and mixing colored pigments starting from a neutral base, used to create high-quality, custom-made paints.

How does it work?
The tinting system operates through an efficient four-step technology:

Calculation software: a computer with specialized software measures the exact amount of each pigment needed to achieve the desired shade, taking into account factors such as brightness and saturation.

Mixing: the measured pigments are blended uniformly and precisely.

Dispensing: the custom paint is dispensed in the exact requested color, ready for immediate use.

Contecolor’s experience: water-based vs solvent-based systems
“Our tinting systems come in two types, water-based and solvent-based, both allowing us to develop custom sample colors on request, as well as standard series such as RAL, NCS, or Pantone,” explains Marco Forcellini, head of purchasing and sales at Contecolor, a company specialized in industrial paints.
The water-based tinting system uses 20 color pastes for formulating aqueous paints, while the solvent-based system uses 15 highly concentrated color pastes.
“To provide clients with autonomy, we offer both solutions and a free formulation software to replicate colors from the main color charts,” he continues.
